Senior Pastor

Pastor Mitch is from a military family backgound and has lived in serveral places. He grew up in Maryville, TN. He met his wife Angela during his senior year of high School, and they were married on July 6th, 1985. At the age of 22, he realized he was not a born again, regenerated christian and repented of his sins and got saved by the Holy Spirit.

He has been in the ministry since 1994 in various positions. In 1997, he gratuated from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master Degree of Divinity.

He has been our Senior Pastor for 2 Years.  Prior to that, he was our Associate Pastor for 14 Years.  They have three children: Lucas, Taylor and Meredith.  He also has one grandchild Hallie by Meredith and her husband Landon.

During his time as Senior Pastor, he is wanting to see the congregation become more outward focused with the gospel. He is challenging God's people to be a positive impact in the community. We are excited to see what God is doing in Alexander County and Hiddenite. We also believe the best is yet to come!

Associate Pastor of Youth and Children

Pastor James was born in Salisbury, NC.  He was 5 years old when the Lord began to deal with him about salvation. He repented of his sins one Sunday night under the preaching of Jerry Whiteheart and got saved.

He went to Champion Baptist College in Hot Springs, AR and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree In Youth Ministries. After graduation, he married his wife Allison on May 21st, 2011. 

They have two kids, Brody and Jade.  They are excited to have a young growing family that is serving the Lord together. 

He has been in various types of ministries since his 1st year of college in 2007. He has been at Sulphur Springs since 2017 as our Associate Pastor of Youth and Children. Prior to this he was in Idaho for 4 years and in Rowan County for 2.

He is excited for the future of Sulphur Springs and praying that God will use the Youth of our Church to change our community for His glory.
